World Tourism Day

World Tourism Day is a day celebrated annually on September 27th to raise awareness about the importance of tourism and to promote efforts to support and develop the tourism industry.

The day was first designated by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 1980 as a way to celebrate the contributions of tourism to the global economy and to promote the potential of tourism to foster understanding and cooperation among nations.

World Tourism Day is celebrated in countries around the world, with events and activities organized to raise awareness about the economic, cultural, and social benefits of tourism and to encourage the responsible and sustainable development of the tourism industry. The day is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of tourism to the global economy and to celebrate the positive impact it can have on people and communities around the world.
