International Day of the Girl Child

International Day of the Girl Child is a day celebrated annually on October 11th to raise awareness about the rights and challenges faced by girls around the world and to promote efforts to empower and support girls.

The day was first designated by the United Nations in 2011 as a way to focus attention on the unique challenges and issues faced by girls and to promote efforts to ensure that girls have the opportunity to reach their full potential. International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated in countries around the world, with events and activities organized to raise awareness about the rights and challenges faced by girls and to encourage people to work towards creating a more gender-equal world.

The day is an opportunity to recognize the progress that has been made in promoting the rights and empowerment of girls and to renew efforts to ensure that girls have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
