Explore your talent in the fields of music, dance and theatre through our elite Rotary Kala Habba platform. Submit your videos for judgement at the earliest. Selected contestants will be mentored by some of the best talents in the field. A grand finale will showcase the finalists on a fabulous stage. The winners will be awarded with rewarding cash prizes.

Rotary Kalahabba Process & Timeline

  • Video Submission:
    Last date for video submission: 31st December, 2023
  • Short Listing by Judges:
    Selected participants from videos will be short-listed for the next face-to-face auditions
  • Face-To-Face Auditions:
    Auditions to select finalists of Rotary Kala Habba in all categories – January 2024
  • Mentorship:
    Selected finalists will be mentored for the final performance by the best mentors in the respective fields – February to April 2024
  • Grand Finale:
    The final round of competition at a mega event on 18th May 2024 at the Prestigious ‘Chowdiah Memorial Hall’. Awarding of grand prizes to the winners.

Terms and Conditions

I. General

  1. ONLINE REGISTRATION AND VIDEO SUBMISSION:
    1.1 Online registration is mandatory for all participants.
    1.2 Registration and video submissions will be accepted from 26 August 2023 to 31st December 2023 through the designated online platform.
    1.3 Submissions after the specified deadline will not be considered.
    1.4 Registration fees are non-refundable.
  2. SELECTION AND TRAVEL:
    2.1 Participants selected for the next round must travel to Bengaluru (if not from the city).
    2.2 Organizers will not provide travel allowances (TA/DA) or boarding and lodging for participants and people accompanying them.
    2.3 Participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements, accommodations, and related expenses.
  3. EQUIPMENT AND PROPS:
    3.1 Participants must bring their own makeup, costumes, props, and any other necessary items for their performance.
    3.2 The organizers will provide the stage (or equivalent space), sound equipment, and general lighting.
  4. MENTORSHIP:
    4.1 Short-listed participants (after Round-2) will receive details about mentorship, once finalised.
    4.2 Mentorship arrangements and schedules will be shared with selected participants.
  5. FINAL COMPETITION:
    5.1 The grand final competition will be held in Bangalore on 18th May 2024.
    5.2 Participants must arrange their own travel, lodging, and boarding for the final competition.
  6. PERFORMANCE LANGUAGE:
    6.1 Performances can be presented in any Indian language or English.
    6.2 For performances in foreign languages, English subtitles are mandatory.
  7. COPYRIGHT RESPONSIBILITY:
    7.1 Participants are solely responsible for ensuring that their performances do not infringe upon any copyright or intellectual property rights.
    7.2 The organizer will not be held accountable for any copyright or Intellectual property issues arising from the performances.
    7.3 For theatre, consent letter from the script-writer is required.
  8. JUDGES’ DECISION:
    8.1 The decision of the judges is final and binding.
    8.2 Judges will evaluate performances based on various criteria including skill, originality, creativity, and stage presence.
  9. DISQUALIFICATION:
    9.1 Judges and organizers retain the right to disqualify any performance if they deem it necessary.
    9.2 Participants must adhere to professional conduct and guidelines throughout the competition.
    9.3 For Theatre and Dance: If it is found that the design and direction of a play or the choreography of a dance is copied from an existing play or dance existing on social media, the team will be disqualified.
  10. PARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY:
    10.1 The competition is open to individuals of all ages, whether professional, amateur, or passionate about the arts.
    10.2 All participants must adhere to the rules and regulations stated herein.
  11. COMMITMENT AND DATES:
    11.1 Selected participants must commit to participating in the competition until May 18th, 2024.
    11.2 Failure to fulfil this commitment may result in disqualification.
  12. DISCLAIMER:
    12.1 The organiser reserves the right to change the rules, as required, at any time.

II. SPECIFIC: DANCE, MUSIC AND THEATRE RULE AND REGULATIONS

  1. ‘DANCE’ CATEGORY:
    1.1: Solo artists can apply under multiple categories but can compete in only one solo category in the final, if selected.
    1.2: Groups can apply for multiple categories but can compete in only one category in the final, if selected.
    1.3: Number of participants on stage:
    – Solo Dance: 1
    – Group Dance: Min 3 – Max 10
    1.4: Dance Audition Video Instructions:
    – Mention your name, registration ID, age, place, category at the beginning of the video.
    – Complete performance video (with costume and makeup).
    – Duration: 6-8 minutes.
    – Participant should announce registration number and applied category at the beginning of the video.
    – The full stage/performance area should be always visible.
    – No close-up shots or moving of the camera.
    – Video should not be edited.
    – Good quality video and audio.
    – No text or watermark on the video.
    – Props should be procured by participants, not provided by the organizer.
    1.5: Dance Copyright:
    – Choreography should not be copied from existing videos.
    – Original music is appreciated. Use of recorded music should not result in copyright issues.
  2. ‘MUSIC’ CATEGORY:
    2.1: Solo artists can apply under multiple categories but can compete in only one solo category in the final, if selected.
    2.2: Groups can apply for multiple categories but can compete in only one category in the final, if selected.
    2.3: Number of participants on stage:
    – Solo: 1
    – Group: Min 3 – Max 6
    2.4: Music Audition Video Instructions:
    – Mention your name, registration ID, age, place, category at the beginning of the video.
    – Introduction: 1 minute 30 seconds
    – Video must be a single take, no editing allowed.
    – For solo performance: mid frame/full frame video.
    – For group performance: full frame video is compulsory.
    – Song duration: 4 minutes.
    – Dry voice (no effects, no microphone).
    – Usage of tanpura or instrument allowed. Karaoke track is allowed for reference.
    – Well-lit room.
  3. ‘THEATRE’ CATEGORY:
    3. 1: Solo artists can apply under multiple categories but can compete in only one solo category in the final, if selected.
    3. 2: Groups can apply for multiple categories but can compete in only one category in the final, if selected.
    3.3: Number of participants on stage:
    – Proscenium Play: Min 8 – Max 12
    – Street Play: Min 8 – Max 12
    – Solo Act: 1
    3.4: Theatre Audition Video Instructions:
    – Mention your name, registration ID, age, place, category at the beginning of the video.
    – Complete performance video (with or without costume/makeup/lights).
    – The full stage/performance area should be always visible.
    – No close-up shots or moving of the camera.
    – Video should not be edited.
    – Good quality video and audio.
    – No text or watermark on the video.
    3.5: Copyright: Theatre:
    – Consent letter from script-writer required.
    – Originality in design and direction is a must, plagiarism will result in elimination.

General Notes:

These rules are applicable to various categories within the competition (Dance, Music, Theatre).

Organizers hold the right to disqualify performances that violate the rules.

Ensure copyright compliance for choreography, music, and scripts.

The competition focuses on originality and quality.
